The Canadian Taxpayers Federation (CTF) released today a “taxpayer-friendly” menu of policy ideas for candidates running in this fall’s municipal election to consider including in their platforms. Alternatively, members of the public can review the ideas and press candidates to agree to some or all of the proposals.
“We wanted to release a list of policy ideas well in advance of this fall’s election so that candidates can consider including some taxpayer-friendly ideas in their platforms,” said CTF Prairie Director Colin Craig. “We also encourage members of the public to visit our web site, review these ideas and then encourage candidates to agree to any of the ideas they support.”
The recommendations range from ideas to improve accountability to cost savings measures, economic development and even a revenue tool. Most of the ideas could be implemented in municipalities across Manitoba.
